Globe Gig Cancelled

A Tokyo Dome concert planned for July 9 by pop group Globe has been cancelled. The group has generated a lot of publicity over the last few months, with the addition of former X Japan drummer Yoshiki and the marriage of vocalist Keiko to guru and band leader Komuro Tetsuya (photo). Komuro blamed the cancellation of the gig and a recent charity concert in Korea on the SARS crisis and world events, saying they would prevent many Asian fans from visiting Tokyo. However, the fact that the group’s recent single “Get it on now” only made No.35 in the Oricon chart shows that they are not as popular as they’d like to think.

• Former Takarazuka star Ohtori Rei (29) is to marry an advertising company executive in Osaka in July.

• TV personality Kuwano Nobuyoshi (46) had two watches and a bracelet stolen while staying at a hotel in Korea. Kuwano had a bag of cash snatched last year while walking in Tokyo’s high-class Ginza district.
